Shipping was prompt, but cracker works better than I expected and very easy to use. No problem cracking hard black walnuts with ease.
This one I got for my cousin.. I have used one for several years Worksgreat. Follow instructions on lubrication. Follow advice on soaking walnuts that start to shatter too badly. Also fantastic on english walnuts, good on pecans. I bought the new rams for my older machine. Definitely work better, except..... I quickly noticed a problem with movement of the nut during the process. I finally noticed that the upper ram had become packed (and I mean PACKED!!) with shell debris. I have to take it off the machine to work it free (I mean PACKED!!!) The problem may relate to my Thomas variety, which tapers into an elongated oval at each end, with very narrow points. They still crack very well, yielding a lot of free quarters, very thin shelled nut, good quality, very productive (sometimes too heavy.). I am going to have to pay attention going forward to checking the upper ram more frequently. I bought an electric powered cracker that works pretty well, but I am (at this point) faster with the Grandpa machine, and at only 73 still don’t mind the extra effort.
It doesn’t even aggravate my tendonitis. Remarkable use of cams to make it effortless. And damn if it doesn’t pop open black walnuts!
This has been a lot easier and faster than ever. This has been worth the cost. I am very happy with the nut cracker.
Let my brother-in-law try it out and he liked it very much. Brought me a small bucket of cracked black walnuts and they were really easy to shell, especially with the snips. Sure beats the old brick and hammer
I've used it on almonds and black walnuts. No problems. Follow the directions and you're good to go. Support these Americans.
It works as advertised and is a pleasure to use.
My experience using Grandpa's Goody Getter has been good. It is much better than using a hammer or a vice. It cracks all around and throughout the shell to make it easier to peel off. I also like the clippers that comes with it. It is much better than the clipper I used to use and now I can get all the nut meats out.
Having used the Master Nutrcracker and wanting something like it, but not wanting a knock-off or wait months and months for their production to meet demand, I found this great device on an internet search. It’s just as good, if not better in some respects, than the Master. We even used it with a group of kids we teach and they all were able to crack black walnuts no problem. With a few minutes practice you’ll be cracking out large pieces of black walnut or hickory with little effort. Great design, price, shipping speed, and customer service!
Easy to use! Cut cracking time in half!
I have Grandpa's Goody Getter and a Master Nut Cracker. Both work great. I love both of them. And both made in Missouri. However, when it comes to cracking black walnuts especially, I believe the Grandpa's Goody Getter is faster and easier than the Master Nut Cracker. If you like nuts, the Goody Getter is worth every penny.
Excellent you all the time now.
This has been the most useful gift I received over the holidays! I am finally able to crack into the black walnuts I harvested last fall in a much more civilized manner. Highly recommend this product.
Just had it for a couple weeks but so far I love it does a really good job cracking black walnuts.and it is well built with heavy duty parts .If you want something to crack them hard shell nuts this is it. Thanks Clyde
Works good. I like it.
I gave this as a gift to my husband for Christmas and it was a surprise and a huge hit! It was easy to put together and even easier to use. We look forward to foraging nuts next year and this will come in handy :)
I ordered this on 12/8 and it was shipped the same day. I received it on 12/14 which is excellent service. I’m using it on black walnuts and it is great. The snips that came with it work great. Totally worth the money.
I am loving it. Bought it as a present for my wife. But I have used it twice. It sure beats a hammer or a vice. Good well built tool. I suggest following the instructions on oiling and greasing. I saw buy one and have some fun. I would buy it again.
was a Christmas gift for a friend He loved it !
With a little practice this Nutcracker makes cracking black walnuts much less difficult. After the first hour my production rate went way up compared to the hammer and anvil method. It's definitely worth the price unless you have unlimited time and don't mind your nut meats in smaller pieces. The owner seems like a real nice guy to deal with.
