Most nut crackers simply weren’t strong enough or precise enough to do the job well. After years of frustration with tools that broke shells poorly or smashed the nut meat, I decided to design something better.

Grandpa’s Goody Getter began with my father, Basil Bacon, the inventor of the original design.
Growing up around the Ozark Mountains, cracking black walnuts was something we did regularly. Anyone who has tried to crack black walnuts knows how difficult they can be. Most nut crackers simply weren’t strong enough, and the ones that were often crushed the nut meat along with the shell.
My father has always preferred solving problems directly. With a background in craftsmanship, he experimented in his workshop to create a better nut cracker, eventually developing the press-styled design of Grandpa’s Goody Getter. His goal was to apply steady pressure to crack even the hardest shells without damaging the nut inside. After assembling a small batch himself, the tool proved successful, and interest grew.
Eventually, I took over the business to share his invention with more people. Today, I manage operations while ensuring his original design remains available for those looking for effective nut crackers for sale.
